These are some of the local happenings that are going on right now, or at least recently.
The developers are considering building 40-46 homes in this area and have already had two neighborhood meetings to hear neighborhood concerns. The developers have acquired 2408 Edinburgh Street for sewer line access and as a possible entry/exit to/from the site.
The Makens Company presented the neighbors with three housing development plans for our consideration. Plan B was favored by most neighbors since it has the traffic going through common driveway with QT, having Edinburgh Street entry/exit point only for emergencies.
We do not know how all of this is going to play out but if approved, it seems fairly certain that house at 2408 on Edinburgh Street would be leveled,
Almost a dozen streets in Webb Britton Estates were given new life. The street reclamation project cost $1.92 million and the new sidewalks and ramps $1.6 million, we were told. A resident-approved, quarter-cent Street Maintenance Sales Tax provides money helped pay for the project.
During the reclamation process, the asphalt portion of the street was excavated and replaced with new asphalt. All of the existing asphalt and concrete removed from the project will be recycled.
The base layer of asphalt used in the project is made up of larger rocks. The top two inches of the road surface is a finer paving mix, making it a more pleasant ride for the drivers.
For Fish Creek Neighborhood, named after the area’s scenic creek, such changes can make all the difference in quality of life and add to residents' sense of pride.
